What is this service?
Community foot health provide clinics, led by HCPC-registered podiatrists, which assess, treat and advise patients on foot conditions. Conditions that can be assessed here include foot ulceration, infected feet, minor burns, and injury from a foreign body (e.g., glass).
The service is provided by GSTT and held at health centres throughout Lambeth and Southwark: Akerman Health Centre, Clapham Manor Health Centre, Elmcourt Health Centre, Gracefield Gardens, Lambeth Community Care Centre, Mawbey Brough, Artesian Health Centre, Tessa Jowell Health Centre.
Criteria
Inclusion
- Registered with a GP based in Lambeth or Southwark
Exclusion
Podiatry will not treat:
- Long or thickened toenails
- Involuted nails
- Possible fungal toenails or fungal infection
- Verruca and warts
- Plantar fasciitis
- Corns and hard skin (that are not changing colour)
- Inflamed bunions
- Fractures and major burns - go to A&E

Rejections, DNAs & other Quirks
- Patients cannot self-refer for a home visit (this must be done by a healthcare professional)
- Patients must bring a list of their medications to their appointment
- Podiatrists may only assess and advise patients on foot conditions - treatment is not guaranteed
