We trust you to work your hours without us monitoring exactly when you’re coming and going, so there is no specific clock-in / clock-out system.
Breaks
Your working hours are not inclusive of breaks e.g. taking time to have lunch. If you work for more than 6 hours a day, you’re legally entitled to take a break of at least 20 minutes. However, we strongly encourage you to take regular breaks throughout the day for your physical and mental wellbeing!
If you’re running late
We understand that sometimes it may be difficult for you to get to work because of bad weather or public transport disruption. We ask that you still try to get to work on time if possible. If you’re having trouble getting to work on time for any reason, please call the appropriate person ASAP.
Non-clinical staff should tell their Line Manager
N.B. we may on occasion monitor log-in / log-out times on EMIS / Windows if there are notable issues with lateness or if we believe you may be leaving early on a frequent basis without permission.
Overtime & time off in lieu (TOIL)
We think that a healthy work-life balance is important, so we encourage you to manage your workload within your usual hours. However, on some occasions we might need you to work overtime (e.g. if we are short-staffed and need your help to cover). Any overtime that you do needs to be agreed with your Line Manager before it is worked.
You can either be paid for your overtime or claim the time back in lieu. You can choose which option you would prefer, but this needs to be agreed with your Line Manager. We might ask you to take paid overtime instead of TOIL on some occasions, for example if it would be difficult to find cover for you.
