What is flexible working?
We’ll seriously consider all requests for flexible working, but we can’t guarantee that all requests can be accepted.
You have the right to make a request from your first day of working with us, and you can make up to two requests in any 12 month period (regardless of the outcome).
More information can be found on the Gov.uk website.
The flexible working request process
1️⃣ Making the request
To make a flexible working request, submit a flexible working request form here.
2️⃣ The discussion
Once we receive your request, your Line Manager will arrange a meeting to discuss your request as soon as is reasonably possible. If there’s likely to be a delay in being able to discuss your request, we’ll keep you informed.
3️⃣ The outcome
We’ll consider your request and make a decision, then share the outcome with you in writing. The outcome will be sent to you within 2 months of when we first receive your request (or longer if this is agreed with you).
- If we are able to accommodate your request, we’ll change the terms and conditions of your contract in accordance with this request. You’ll receive a contract variation document via BambooHR - please let us know if you don’t receive this.
- If we are not able to accommodate your request, we’ll let you know what our reasons are.
- In some cases, if we are not able to accommodate your original request, we might be able to offer you an alternative pattern that we think would be suitable instead.
🙋♂️ Appeals
If your request is refused, you can appeal against the decision. Appeals must be made in writing within 2 weeks of receiving the confirmation of our decision.
You’ll be invited to attend another meeting to discuss your appeal. As with the original meeting, you can be accompanied by a colleague if you would like. After this meeting we’ll tell you the final decision in writing.
