Overview
Getting paid
As is standard practice in the UK, we pay in arrears which means that you’ll be paid on the last working day of each month.
We pay you directly by Bacs transfer into your specified bank account, so if your bank details change it is really important that you let us know! See the box below for more information.
- Go to BambooHR → ‘My Info’ → ‘Personal’
- Find and update the ‘Bank Details’ section
- Also send a pay queries form to make extra sure that we get your updated details!
Payslips
We send out payslips electronically using Sage instead of giving you a paper copy - it’s more secure and it’s more environmentally friendly!
During your first month with us you’ll be sent an email from Sage to sign up to your ‘Sage Payroll Services - Employee’ account. Please make sure you sign up as soon as you receive that email as it will time-out after a short period for security purposes.
Go to Sage → ‘My profile’ and update ‘Email address’
Your salary
You can find your annual salary in your contract (on BambooHR), and see how much you’re paid each month (including what is deducted for tax etc.) on your payslip. Any paid overtime will also be added to your pay check.
Pay adjustments
We’ll automatically deduct some things out of your salary every month:
- Income tax and National Insurance contributions (which you’re legally required to pay)
- Pension contributions if you’re paying into a pension
There could also be deductions for other things depending on your individual circumstances:
- TechScheme or CycleScheme deductions if you’re part of one of those schemes
- Any salary sacrifices you might have agreed to
- Any court ordered deductions (e.g. CAPS)
You can see how much pay you’re getting and any adjustments made on your payslip.
Note: The 20th of each month is the last day that any adjustments can be made to your pay for that month (e.g. for sick leave or paid overtime). If any event occurs that would require a pay adjustment after 20th of the month, we’ll alter your pay for the next month
NB. If you’re overpaid for any reason, we’ll normally deduct the amount of overpayment from your next pay check. However, if the amount to be deducted would cause hardship, we may arrange for repayment over a longer period.
The right to deduct wages, either as a result of this clause of any other clause within your contract or this handbook is an express term of your contract of employment.
Pay for overtime
If you work overtime and ask for pay instead of time off in lieu, this will be automatically added to your pay check once the overtime is approved by your Line Manager. Have a look here to find out more about our policy on working overtime.
As noted above, the 20th of each month is the cut off for requesting pay for overtime in that month. If you work overtime after the 20th of the month, or if you don’t log your overtime on WhosOff until after the 20th, you will be paid for this in the next month.
