The order comms system we use to electronically request pathology tests via EMIS. It is available around the clock and is the quickest and easiest way of ordering tests provided by Synnovis.
Getting started
If you’re unable to access TQuest or make requests, get in touch with the IT team.
Making a Test Request
Go through the steps of this interactive tutorial to find out how to make a test request using TQuest.
Top tip: view in full-screen! 💡
- under 40 years old (unless discussed with urologist)
- over 79 years old, if expected to live <10 years
Complete and Incomplete Tests
A test which has been finished is called a Complete Test on EMIS.
- To access a list of all complete tests, navigate to ‘Workflow Manager’ on the EMIS homepage, select ‘Test Requests’ to the left hand side of the page and click ‘Request Complete’.
- You can re-print a complete test by right clicking on a test from the list and selecting ‘Print Test Request’
- If a patient sample has not yet been taken, you’ll find the details of the test request under ‘Awaiting Sample’
Making a request offline
If TQuest is not working or unavailable, or if you're unable to print an online form, follow these steps to complete your request offline.
1️⃣ Ensure the Correct Patient is Selected 😀
Double-check that the correct patient is open on the system.
2️⃣ Open DXS Application 💻
Launch the DXS App and search for "Synnovis".
3️⃣ Choose the Appropriate Form 📄
You will see the following options:
- Haematology and Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Immunology
- Semen Analysis
4️⃣ Tick the Required Tests ☑️
Select the tests ordered by the GP from the previous report or those required for LTC (Long Term Condition) reviews.
5️⃣ Print the Form 🖨️
Once completed, print the form and proceed with the bloods.
6️⃣ Label the Specimen Tubes 🏷️
After the blood test is taken, label all tubes with at least 3 identifiers:
- Name
- Date of Birth
- NHS Number
7️⃣ Bag and Send the Sample 👜
Place the labeled specimen tubes and printed request form in the specimen bag and send it to the lab.
Examples of such tests include T3, T4, blood film and HLAB27.
Printing a request
Our reception team are responsible for printing TQuests after a request has been made. To do so, follow these steps:
- Open the patient on EMIS
- Click ‘EMIS ball’ > ‘Workflow’ > ‘Workflow Manager’
- Select ‘Test Requests’ from the menu on the left, then select ‘Report List’ from the ribbon menu.
- Select ‘Cervical Screening London’ or ‘Pathology services - Guys and St Thomas’ (as appropriate) from the list that appears.
- Select the ‘Test Printout’ tab. Make sure GP HPV SEL_V2 is chosen for cervical screening, for pathology use the default selection. Then, click on the ‘Test Printer Configuration’ at the bottom right to print a test page.
- The ‘Printing Settings’ box should now open. Select the ‘Brother’ printer as the ‘Printer Full Path Name’. Select ‘MP Tray’ as the ‘Printer Source (Paper Tray)’. Paper orientation should be ‘Portrait’ and paper size ‘A4’.
- Set your margins, as per the type of request:
- Cervical screening: Left 5, Top 12, Right 10, Bottom 12
- Pathology: Left 0, Top 0, Right 0, Bottom 0.
- Click the ‘Save’ button, and your request will print!
Add on requests
