What is this service?
WWHealth (from Weight Watchers) has been designed in close consultation with healthcare professionals to deliver effective, sustainable and cost effective weight management programmes for local communities. GPs, nurses and other health professionals can refer patients for a free 12 week membership to a local Weight Watchers group.
Patients have access to the program, website and the app. A core membership is online only however a premium membership includes workshops which can be online or in person. Funding depends on which program patients are put on.
Criteria
- Age >18
- BMI >30
- BMI >28 (if have co-morbidities)
- BMI >27.5 (if BAME)

Rejections, DNAs & other Quirks
- Once the referral is set up in NHS system, the patient will receive a unique access ID so they can access their free online account
- If a patientβs referral is rejected for the free 12 week membership, they can still sign up as a paying member via the Weight Watchers website
