What is this service?
Occupational Therapy Southwark supports patients who struggle to perform everyday tasks due to illness, frailty or disability. The OT team work with the patient to identify how to best support them. Examples of support they can provide include:
- advice
- recommending equipment that could help
- recommending small/large adaptations to the patients home (e.g., installing a ramp)
- advice and information about other useful services
- help installing an alarm or telecare equipment
Adaptation costs:
- Southwark Council tenant: free
- Housing Association tenant: free
- Private renter: can apply for a grant to help pay fees, but likely the patient will have to contribute (amount dependent on income & savings). Click here for more information.
Criteria
Patients must be a Southwark resident and, fit into one of the following categories:
- have a physical disability
- are an older person who struggles with everyday tasks due to frailty
- have a worsening health condition
- look after someone who has a disability
- have a mental health issue or learning disability which makes it hard for you to do everyday tasks

- Wait times are 4-5 months, plus 1-2 months for screening of referral for non-urgent referrals
