What is this service?
The Maudsley Centre for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (MCCAED) is a world-renowned leader in the field of adolescent eating disorders. Their internally-developed therapies include Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) for anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, parent groups, Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) and Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (RO-DBT).

Criteria
- Children and adolescents up to 17 years + 9 months (older than that is considered adult and should be referred elsewhere)
- A series of physiological tests are required for referral. See CYP - Eating Disorders for more detail.

Rejections, DNAs & other Quirks
- Due an unprecedented increase in referrals since the pandemic, self-referrals to this service from young people, parents, or carers are temporarily suspended for all eating disorders except ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder).
- Professionals should refer in consultation with their patient/family.
- For all accepted referrals, they aim to offer a first appointment within 28 days.
- For patients in North Lewisham PCN - if rejected from this service can refer to The Mulberry Hub instead
