What is this service?
The Lewisham MACE maintains strong focus on serious youth violence as well as sexual/criminal exploitation.
The MACE does not replace established statutory safeguarding procedures — if you’re concerned for the welfare or safety of a child you should make a MASH referral, or in the case of the child with an allocated social worker contact the social worker directly.
Criteria
- Children and Young People (CYP), ages 0-25
- CYP may be subject to, at risk of or the early stages of concern regarding:
- Sexual exploitation
- Criminal exploitation
- Serious youth violence
- Serious harmful sexual behaviour
How to refer
- Aged 0-18 → make a referral to Lewisham MASH, and the Social Worker will then make a referral to MACE if appropriate
- Aged 18-25 (former LAC) → notify the young person’s Personal Advisor, and they will make a referral to MACE if appropriate
- Aged 18-25 (not former LAC) → any professional can make a referral to the email below
📧 Email → SEMailbox-.LewishamPre-MACE@met.police.uk & PreMACE_MACE@lewisham.gov.uk
Rejections, DNAs & other Quirks
- All referrals come into the front door MASH, the referrals are triaged by the team manager who makes a decision on which service best suits the patient
- If the patient’s case does not meet the criteria, the service will contact the party and inform them
