What is this service?
Lambeth Talking Therapies (LTT) Service (part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service) offers free talking therapies for adults experiencing depression, general anxiety and worry, health anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, traumatic memories and obsessive compulsive disorder. They also offer help for living with a long term health condition.
Consists of an initial 20-30 minute telephone assessment of patients, then either a treatment plan or referral on to another service.
Virtual and telephone sessions available.
Criteria
- Adults (18 years or older)
- Registered with a Lambeth GP or GP at Hand (and live in the borough)
- access also for NHS or Health and Social Care workers working in Lambeth
- LTT do not see patients at home
Exclusion Criteria
- High risk and seeking immediate crisis support (i.e. feel that they cannot keep themselves safe)
- Patients with diagnosis of psychosis and who have not been stable for the last 2-3 years. Where the condition is stable, LTT only provide treatment for difficulties not directly related to the psychosis problem (e.g. can treat anxiety / stress but not paranoia).
- Patients with diagnosis of bipolar and who have not been stable for 6 months
- Assessment and specific treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder or ADHD
- Seeking support from a psychiatrist for a psychiatric assessment or medication management
- Eating disorders service and Psychosexual services
- Those who are seeking and already accessing support from another mental health service (except the Lambeth Living Well Network HUB).

Rejections, DNAs & other Quirks
- Waiting times can be found on the right hand side of their 'Refer Yourself' webpage
- Most appointments are during opening times, but they do offer some ‘out of hours’ slots
- LTT do not provide letters for housing and benefits applications
