Summary: This page details how to process prescription requests using the βMedicine Managementβ feature of EMIS Workflow Manager.
Whoβs it for: GPs
Prescriptions that require GP action are divided equally between our GPs. Please make sure that youβre checking and actioning your allocated prescriptions on a daily basis so that we can fulfil our obligation to process all requests within 24/48 hours. You can access documents via the Medicine Management function of EMIS Workflow Manager.
Accessing Medicine Management
- Login to EMIS
- Click the EMIS ball (top left corner), and navigate to βWorkflowβ, then βWorkflow Managerβ
- Select βWorkflow Viewβ, then click the βMy Tasks + Deputising Forβ option
- To the left of your screen, select the βMedicine Managementβ tab (see imageβ¬οΈ)
Actioning Prescription Requests
Our in-house pharmacy team screen all requests, process repeat prescriptions, do medication reviews, and keep monitoring up-to-date.
- Open the βRequestsβ folder under βMedicines Managementβ. Action and file requests assigned to you as appropriate (make sure you have filtered your results as above!)
- Repeat for the βRequests with queriesβ and βAwaiting Signingβ folders
- Send a task to the pharmacy team if you have any particular queries (e.g., you want to book a patient medication review, change dosette boxes, etc.)
- Once finished, the majority of prescriptions will be transmitted via EPS and can be viewed in the βCompletedβ folder. If you need FP10s, please speak to the Reception Lead.
- If you reject a prescription, task the pharmacy team to send the patient an AccuRX explaining the reason for the rejection. Rejected prescriptions can then be found in the βRejected Prescriptionsβ folder.
Refresh your workflow inbox regularly as you may receive requests throughout the day.
