Triage & Testing Process
1️⃣ Patient calls with suspected UTI
Welcomes & Call Handlers
- Triage the patient using POST.
- If you book the patient with one of our clinicians, ensure that you send the UTI florey via Accurx and ask the patient to come into the surgery to complete a urine sample as soon as they can.
- If the patient is on their period, make a note on the booking consultation.
2️⃣ Receiving urine sample from patient
Welcomes
- Ensure UTI florey has been completed, and if the patient is on their period, a note has been made on the booking consultation.
- Confirm the patient’s nominated pharmacy.
- Follow the process on Samples to make sure the patient is given the appropriate container (long tube with white top for urine samples), the container is correctly labelled, secured, and placed in the fridge.
If a patient comes in to drop off a sample without calling first, please triage them using POST before taking a sample from them, and only take sample if POST indicates this is the correct procedure (they should also complete the UTI florey etc.)
