What are protocols?
Protocols are automatic processes in EMIS that are designed to make it easier to automate actions (e.g. adding SNOMED codes) and decision making. They can be launched manually or triggered by other things happening in EMIS (e.g. opening a patient’s record).
How to manually run a protocol
You can manually launch a protocol using the Protocol Launcher:
👉 Open Protocol Launcher by pressing F12 on your keyboard
👉 Double click the protocol you want to launch
If you don’t see the protocol you want to run (or any protocols) in your Protocol Launcher, then you’ll need to add it first (see the steps below!)
Add a protocol to Protocol Launcher
- Press F12 to open Protocol Launcher and a pop-up will appear that looks like this ⬇️
- Right click on any letter of the alphabet and then click Add…
- A new window called Protocol Picker will open. Use the search box to find a protocol with the keyword you need (e.g. flu)
- Click on the protocol you want from the list, and click OK
- This protocol will now appear in the Protocol Launcher every time you open it
Remove a protocol from Protocol Launcher
Right click the protocol that you want to remove and click Remove…
