What is the pink alert or QOF box?
QOF = Quality and Outcomes Framework
A pop-up box that appears when you open a patient’s EMIS record. It shows any medical interventions required, and other patient data which may be required for QOF targets. It’s a form of safety netting that alerts everyone in the practice to key patient information.
What does the pink QOF box tell you?
The symbols and types of notifications found in the box are:
🔴 Red dot
- overdue tests
- urgent alerts (e.g., monitoring of treatment or 2 week wait referrals)
⚠️ Yellow triangle
- tests that are needed or suggested
- QOF related physical properties (e.g., BMI)
🗨️ White speech bubble
- which QOF register(s) the patient is on
- medication reviews needed
- other patient information not yet recorded in the notes
What to do with this information
When the box pops-up, it may be a reminder that some action for the patient may be required. Receptionists are the first to see these when booking appointments or fielding calls from patients.
When you see a reminder for a test, med review or appointment, please be sure to book the patient in for whatever test/assessment is indicated in the box.
