Abnormal vaginal bleeding
Lots of women experience heaving vaginal bleeding during the menstrual cycle. This should be quantified, so that we can workout how heavy their bleeding is.
Ectopic pregnancy is also something that we should rule out - as this should be seen in A&E. This often causes heavy vaginal bleeding with sudden abdominal pain, usually on one side. These patients may have been pregnant or missed a period.
If vaginal bleeding is very heavy, this should be seen sooner so that the patient can be assisted with medication to reduce the volume of bleeding. This can be done via various staff groups at our surgeries.
Menopause
Our pharmacy team are able to manage patients who are already on HRT or who want to start HRT - this is provided the patient has already been diagnosed with menopause or perimenopause by a GP.
Vaginal bleeding after menopause
For those patients who have already experienced menopause, bleeding from the vagina is a concern. These patients should be seen promptly by our GPs for a full review.
