Screening is an important Public Health measure, aiming to identify patients with disease in the early stages. This is so that it can be treated early, improving the outcome for the patient. These screening services are mostly provided by external clinics - the exception is the cervical screening. If a patient has symptoms of one of the conditions being screened, it is no longer appropriate to go to screening - instead the patient needs a face-to-face appointment with a clinician for assessment and management.
