Routine pregnancy checks
In GP surgeries in the NHS, we do not offer routine checks for pregnancy. This should happen via a midwife.
Pregnancy complications
There are a few conditions which need to be seen urgently for pregnant patients. These conditions should be seen and assessed via the Maternity Assessment Unit (MAU) or Early Pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology Unit (EPAGU).
For Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital
- EPAGU will see women up to 18 weeks
- MAU will see women who are at least 18 weeks pregnant.
For King’s Hospital
- EPU will see women up to 16 weeks
If a woman is unsure, she can be directed to the A&E who will assist with informing them where to go.
