EMIS-X Introduction

Please note that EMIS X is not currently available on all Penrose Health EMIS sites. However, it will be made available soon. You can access the EMIS X user guide on the EMIS Now portal when needed by clicking here.

There are EMIS-X course on EMIS Academy which will help you getting started with EMIS-X. If you don’t yet have an EMIS Academy account, sign up for free today here to access the eLearning courses.

Important: Due to the incremental development approach, EMIS-X is not intended to replace EMIS Web at this time but used to enhance the users experience when reviewing certain clinical data for a patient. EMIS Web should therefore continue to be used to support patient care.

What is EMIS-X?

EMIS-X is an application designed to work alongside EMIS Web, introducing new and improved features. EMIS-X can be launched from within EMIS Web.

Available EMIS-X Features

The EMIS-X features currently available are:

Instant Messaging – allows 1-1 and group messaging functionality for anyone in your organisation who is using EMIS-X, including notiﬁcations of incoming messages and message read receipts. This is designed to be a replacement for Screen Messaging in EMIS Web.

Clinical Views – allows you to view some EMIS Web Care Record data in the EMIS-X application, side-by-side with EMIS Web, giving you important clinical information and decision support at the point of care. The clinical views currently available are Problems, Documents, Investigations and Medication.

EMIS News Feed – view a feed of the latest news from EMIS and receive notiﬁcations of new updates. The latest news is accessible via ‘EMIS Now’ under ‘Resources’ on the main menu.

Single Sign-On to EMIS Now– for seamless access to our learning resources and support portal on EMIS Now directly from EMIS-X. Users need an EMIS Now account that uses the same email address as the one veriﬁed in EMIS Web.

What do you have to do before using EMIS-X

To support the start of your EMIS-X journey, you should undertake the following actions:

If you have not done so already, verify your email address in EMIS Web using an email address that is unique to you You may have seen a prompt to confirm your email address when logging into EMIS, or you might notice a notification in EMIS asking you to verify your email. EMIS-X will not work for users who have not veriﬁed their email address.

Ensure you have an EMIS Now account and that it uses the same email address that you have veriﬁed in EMIS Web to allow for seamless access from within EMIS-X.
