Penrose Academy is our internal training platform for all Penrose Health staff! If the Penrose Portal is the textbook of how we do things at Penrose Health, the Penrose Academy is our classroom. We'll be using the Penrose Academy going forward for all your internal and external training needs.
Find it at: penrose.academy
🔐 Logging in
All Penrose Health staff will automatically have an account made for them with their NHS email address. If you’re logging in for the first time, you will need to reset your password:
- Go to penrose.academy
- Click ‘Forgot password?’
- Enter your NHS email address
- Once the email comes through to your NHS account, reset your password. The email will come from Workramp and look like this 👇
If you don’t get an email, make sure to check your junk folder!
You can then use your new password to log in and access the Penrose Academy!
🏡 The Homepage
When you log into the Penrose Academy you'll find yourself on the Homepage, which looks like this:
1️⃣ Learner Profile Menu
Click here to access your user profile. From here you can add a profile picture, or change your preferred name or pronouns. You can also see badges that you’ve been awarded for completing your courses here!
2️⃣ Primary Navigation Menu
Click on the Events or Libraries tabs to see upcoming Events that you can sign up for, or browse Libraries for training materials (see below for more information about what Events and Libraries are 👇). Click Home to go back to the homepage.
3️⃣ Assignments
This is where training that has been assigned to you by someone else, or you have assigned to yourself via a Library, will appear. You can access the course content by clicking on the tile.
By default you’ll see your courses that are In Progress, but you can also go to the other tabs to see only Overdue, Completed or Archived courses.
4️⃣ Upcoming Events
In this section you’ll see Events that you’ve registered for, or that have been assigned to you by someone else. You can see more information about the event by clicking on the tile.
5️⃣ Search Bar
Use the search bar to find courses that are assigned to you, or to search for topics that you might want to learn more about.
6️⃣ Notifications
You'll get notifications when an assignment has been graded, comments are ready to view, or there's an open assignment activity for you to complete.
📖 Key terminology
There are a few key building blocks of the Penrose Academy. We already mentioned a couple of them above, but here’s some more information about what they are and when you might come across them:
🪜 What a Path looks like
This is what a typical Path looks like:
You can see it’s made up of a Resource, and a Guide.
Some Paths must be completed in a certain order. In the picture above, you can see the padlock 🔒 next to the second step in the Path. You must read the Diabetes - Penrose Portal Resource before you can complete the Diabetes Foot Screening (Diabetes Frame) Guide.
🗺️ Navigating through a Guide
This is what a typical Guide looks like:
1️⃣ You can see all of the sections in a Guide in the navigation menu on the left. This is like a table of contents for the Guide.
2️⃣ If you can't see this, make sure you click the button with three grey lines in the top-left corner to open the navigation menu.
3️⃣ Click the Next button in the top-right corner to move onto the next section of the Guide.
If there's a quiz on the page, the button will say Submit to lock in your answers. Once you've submitted your answers, the button will change to Next. 👍
4️⃣ Not all questions require a response. If you need to submit an answer, there will be an asterisk* beside the question. You won't be able to click Next until the question is answered if it's required!
If you get any answers wrong on a quiz (and retakes are allowed), a Retake Questions link will appear beside the Next button after you Submit your answers. Click on this link to retry the questions. 🤞
Some Guides may only allow you to retake a quiz a certain number of times. In this case, the Retake Questions link will note the number of retake attempts remaining. 😬
