What are U&Es?
This blood test is commonly ordered to assess kidney function
- Sodium (Na+) & Potassium (K+): Important electrolytes which helps maintain fluid and blood volume
- Serum Creatinine: A waste product of the breakdown of muscles which should be removed by the kidneys, and therefore a marker of their function
- eGFR: A calculated estimate of kidney function, taking into consideration creatinine, age and sex
- Urine ACR: A low ACR is normal, and high is suggestive of poor kidney function
Test Workflow
ACR results
If ACR result ‘unable to calculate’ e.g. if albumin <5→ file these results
If the urine albumin or urine creatinine is abnormal, but the ACR ratio is normal → file these results
Lab Urine ACR results will appear like this - giving a specific normal range.
Home Urine ACR results will give a normal, abnormal/moderately increased or high abnormal/severely increased result
Repeat ACR testing in 3 months
Patient’s need at least 2 abnormal ACR results, at least 3 months apart. In order to process this:
- You can delay the Accurx to send in 3 months time. Please do this by selecting ‘custom date and time’ in the bottom right corner. See images below.
- Please select the date in 3 months time.
Safety Netting Documentation
ACR first sample

ACR repeat sample
If adding for ACR repeat testing, please add under ‘active monitoring’ - add comment stating ‘awaiting repeat ACR test’ for 3 months later
