Summary of Role
The role of a Penrose Health Healthcare Assistant (HCA) is to work with our clinical and non-clinical team to deliver the best healthcare service to our patients. Specifically, HCAs are responsible for clinical primary care duties and administrative work.
📜Duties
- New patient health checks and other health screening
- Urinalysis and preparation of specimens
- Blood tests and phlebotomy
- Long term condition reviews where appropriate
- Ear Irrigation and vaccinations including flu/pneumococcal vaccines
- Dressings and wound-care
- Patient education and promotion of health and well-being
- Gathering lifestyle data from patients
- Infection control and equipment management
- Vaccination management and clinical stock control

Personal attributes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Work well in a team of clinicians and non-clinical staff
Knowledge, experience and qualifications
- Good clinical knowledge and analytical skills
- >12 months experience working in a GP Primary Care setting (desirable, not essential)
- Experience working with EMIS (desirable, not essential)
