Applying for CPD Funding
Application process
- Gain approval for the course from the L&D Coordinator and your Lead (see callout box above)
- Apply for CPD funding on the SELWDH website using the CPD funding form (see CPD funding form details below)
- Submit your CPD funding form and wait for an email response from SELWDH (see Once you’ve submitted the form below)

The CPD Funding form is divided into two parts:
Once you’ve submitted the form
The SELWDH multi-professional panel meet on the first Monday of each month to review CPD funding requests and decide whether to approve or decline funding request, or offer alternatives. All requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
When a CPD funding request is declined
If your funding request is declined, the SELWDH may propose an alternative training option at a different cost, providing similar training to your original request.
If no alternative is suggested, you should discuss this with the L&D Coordinator and your Lead to explore other possibilities. This could entail discontinuing pursuit of the course, seeking alternative training, or potentially receiving support from Penrose Health contingent upon signing a training agreement. This will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
When a CPD funding request is approved
If your funding request is approved, the SELWDH will notify you directly by email after their monthly review. You must forward this email to the L&D Coordinator as proof of approval of CPD funding for your specified course. Once CPD funding is confirmed, the L&D Coordinator will then proceed to pay.
CPD funding is offered as reimbursed costs, which Penrose Health will pay upfront on your behalf. Once paid for, the invoice is shared with the Finance team, who can claim the reimbursement.
