Clinical templates are designed to capture consistent, accurate data, and act as a check list for tasks that must be completed or information that should be captured for a specific use case, such as a medication review or review of a LTC.
How to open a clinical template
Finding the right template
Penrose Health templates
We recommend that you use our Penrose Health clinical templates! These templates were put together by our clinicians and contain all of the information you need, without being overwhelmed. Our templates will also add the relevant SNOMED code to the patientโs record when theyโre run.
You can find clinical templates on EMIS by either searching for a clinical term/use case, or using the file navigator. We suggest you use the file navigator because you may not be able to find exactly what you need using search (e.g. if there are spelling errors, or differences in terminology between your search and our template name).
You can tell if youโre using a Penrose Health template because all of our templates are named using the format โPenrose Health - [condition/use case]โ.
If youโre not sure which template to use, the exact name of the relevant template can often be found in any of our Penrose Portal pages (e.g. for completing a Diabetes review).
Ardens templates
Ardens templates can also be found on EMIS. Generally, theyโre much more detailed than our Penrose Health templates (often too detailed!). We recommend you use our templates instead of Ardens, as they contain the most relevant information for you.
If you use the search, you can tell which templates are by Ardens because they contain โ(Ardens)โ at the end of the template name.
Saving or closing a template
Click โCancel Templateโ if you want to close the template without saving
You can re-open a template by right clicking on the consultation and clicking โEdit Consultationโ.
Once the consultation containing the template is open, click the arrow below โRun Templateโ and then click on the template that you want to edit.
Auditing templates
We check templates on EMIS on a regular basis to make sure that theyโre kept up-to-date and nicely organised in the โPenrose Health Master - Clinical Templatesโ folder.
Please do not make any changes to these templates or upload any other templates to EMIS in this folder. If you think something is wrong in one of these templates, or it needs to be updated, please get in touch with the Data Controller.
