Overview
We hope that you don’t have to use any parental bereavement leave during your time with us, but we understand that you might. If you do, we are so sorry for your loss.
This leave can be taken if you lose a child under the age of 18, if you lose your baby after it is born alive at any point during the pregnancy, or if you have a stillbirth after 24 weeks of pregnancy.
Taking parental bereavement leave
A total of two working weeks of parental bereavement leave can be taken, either as a single block of one working week, a single block of two working weeks, or two separate blocks of one week.
Leave can be taken at any time in the 56 weeks following the death.
If more than one child dies or is stillborn, you can take two working weeks of parental bereavement leave in relation to each child.
Pay
You’re legally entitled to statutory parental bereavement pay, if you meet the eligibility requirements below.
